Hello to all families across Alaska!

My name is Garin Martin, and I have been an educator for many years trying to find the path that allows choice in education, for both parents and students, while ensuring students are provided every opportunity for growth and success. This brought me to Denali PEAK back in 2010.

I started teaching Bilingual First Grade and English Language Learners in Oakland, California. From there I moved to Point Hope, Alaska, my home in the Arctic, where I taught numerous courses spanning many grade levels based on the dynamic needs of our school. In a quick turn of events, I ended up in Anchorage, Alaska as the homeschool teacher for Denali Borough School district, although then I was not quite sure what a homeschool teacher did. As time has progressed, my understanding of the infinite opportunities we are afforded by homeschooling in Alaska as a parent, and as a teacher the limitless options and freedom to develop courses to meet students’ needs, amazes me each day.

I would like to thank each and every one of our families, students, and staff for educating me on something new every day, as well as allowing me to serve our school in an educational capacity that truly is designed by you.
